Star Wars: New purse roundup for Force Friday II weekend

With a new season comes a need for a new purse, right? We’re rounding up some of the latest Star Wars lines to give you some ideas.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is now just over three months away, and that’s a little hard to fathom, honestly. It’ll have been two years since a main saga film was in theaters, and as of Sept. 1, the merchandise rush is officially on. Force Friday II has already come and gone, but when even local news stations call it a weekend event, we feel perfectly justified in having a little Force Saturday fashion, and oh, there is fashion.

If you’re in the market for a Star Wars bag, it’s basically the prime time to start shopping.

Thanks to The Kessel Runway, we’re taking a look at a lot of stuff here.

You can spot the BB-9E purse in the top row, second from the left. Kessel Runway reports that you’ll only be able to find this one at BoxLunch. Judging by the sheer amount of BB-9E merchandise available, it looks like he’ll be like the BB-8 of merchandising for this movie in that he’ll be everywhere … or at least he’ll have to share that with the porgs. BoxLunch does not have a listing up for the matching wallet, but it seems safe to suspect that it might also only be on that site, so keep an eye out.

Pattern recognition tells us that the BB-9E on the bottom row is probably a backpack, and a coin purse is next to it.

Heading back to the top row, if you look closely, that’s a dark Resistance bag first on the left, which Kessel Runway dubs “subtle and chic.” Yours truly is more of a silver girl herself, but I’d bet money that this is going to be a Leia-inspired bag based on the color, texture, and gold accents. That’s the palette she’s sporting in her Funko Pop! figure for the film, after all. It also looks like a bag that holds everything, which helps you get more stuff done just like our favorite princess/general/all-around badass.

Okay, we promised you porgs. Kessel Runway has found one porg zip wallet already from Bioworld, and like his Pop!, the Chewbacca bag also has a porg keychain. That makeup bag set is also pretty great, but it is sans porgs. It does feature Rey, though, and R2-D2. Seems like a fair tradeoff, frankly.

But Bioworld is also going a little more subtle. Drawing some inspiration from Rey’s Last Jedi outfit, the company has a bag and wallet much like Loungefly’s backpack and wallet above, although Bioworld appears to have a lighter gray as its primary color — meaning you might have to watch for dirt, but that kind of light neutral tone can basically go year-round with the navy and brown accents.

Next: Hocus Pocus line

One suspects that this will just be the beginning of The Last Jedi accessories, though, so don’t feel a need to choose one just to have one. Remember, we are still three months and some change out.
