5. Harry fights the press
The paparazzi couldn’t get enough of Princess Diana. They followed her everywhere. She was open, honest, and didn’t present herself in a way one would expect from Kensington Palace. Her youngest son, Prince Harry, lives his life publicly and outside of the lines. He parties. He speaks his mind. He likes to have fun. His relationship with American actress Meghan Markle is a great example of him making choices for himself and not for the monarchy, just like his mom. Markle was put under heinous scrutiny when the couple went public and Harry was furious. He immediately released a statement through Kensington Palace refusing to let the abuse his mother received continue with Markle:
"“[She] has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public—the smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and Web article comments…it is not right that a few months into a relationship with him that Ms. Markle should be subjected to such a storm.”"
