17. Princesses get divorced

Princess Diana challenged the status quo as a princess. She took an otherwise typically hollow and superficial position and turned it into a feminist frenzy. Diana was true role model for women. She was determined to speak out against those who did her wrong and ultimately divorced a man who was unfaithful to her from the beginning. Traditionally, princesses stay quiet and look the other way when their husbands cheat, but not Diana. She was unabashedly open, sharing details of her bad marriage in interviews, books, and tape-recorded conversations.

We learned from Diana that princesses can do much more than look pretty in expensive dresses. Princesses are strong, independent, and don’t need their husbands to make a difference.
