Did Taylor Swift just take her ongoing feud with Kanye West to a new level?
Following the release of her new single, “Look What You Made Me Do,” a TMZ report has confirmed that the release date for Swift’s upcoming album, Reputation, fans on the same day as the 10-year anniversary of West’s mother’s tragic and unexpected death.
“It’s not news Taylor Swift and Kanye West dislike each other, but the timing of her new album release takes it to a whole new level,” the outlet revealed to readers on August 25. “Taylor’s album, ‘Reputation,’ is set to drop November 10, exactly 10 years to the day Donda West died from complications from cosmetic surgery.”
Kanye West was deeply impacted by his mother’s death
As the outlet explained, Donda was a major part of West’s life and when she passed, he struggled for years to cope with the emotional turmoil he faced after losing her. In fact, his November 2016 breakdown was said to have been prompted by the nine-year anniversary of her passing.
Taylor Swift’s album will be released on a Friday
While many have jumped to conclusions, claiming that Swift chose November 10 in an effort to hurt West, TMZ pointed out that Fridays were the preferred days for album releases. In addition, a source at Swift’s record label claimed that the date was chosen “based on other Universal Music Group releases.”
“There is no correlation,” the insider added of the upcoming anniversary of West’s mom’s death.
Swift’s album is her sixth studio album and the first one she’s released since 1989 in 2014.
