Joss Whedon’s ex-wife Kai Cole says he’s a hypocrite
In an online letter, Kai Cole expressed her opinion on ex-husband Joss Whedon and really is anyone surprised that he’s not that great?
Joss Whedon is one of those “I’m a feminist” guys. Granted, he gave us Buffy the Vampire Slayer and that’s nothing to scoff at. But from around 2005 on, he hasn’t given us many female characters we enjoy.
While we’re going to get into the root of this issue and what his ex-wife, Kai Cole, said, I first want to point out that he does have a problem writing women. Yes, Buffy Summers, as a character, was incredible for women. But then she was about the pinnacle of Whedon’s career. You want to know the character I think he destroyed which could have been great for him and his track record as a “feminist creator”? Black Widow.
He reduced her to a set piece and didn’t give her the justice she deserved. But again, we’re supposed to just nod and say that’s fine since he made Buffy. Now though, his ex-wife has brought light to his “fake feminist” approach to life and it really makes you second guess some things.
In an online article, Kai Cole points out that her ex-husband is a hypocrite for his “feminist” ideals and how he treats women in his daily life. But really, if you read his Wonder Woman script, it isn’t that surprising at all.
Is Whedon a good guy?
In short? No. Or maybe he is. I don’t know, I’ve never met the man. But judging by his work on Black Widow’s character and that horrendous Wonder Woman script where Steve Trevor is more of a hero than Diana, I’d say not really. And this article by his ex-wife isn’t helping things.
Personally, I don’t want him touching Batgirl. And I’m not the only one who feels that way. In response to this article, many fans (mainly women) shared their fear. After everything Wonder Woman gave us, we don’t want Whedon to take it again.

So will Warner Brothers think this letter is worse than anything Whedon could do to Batgirl? Who knows, but I guess we’ll just have to wait and find out.
