Game of Thrones season 7, episode 6: The best Twitter takes

In the penultimate episode of Game of Thrones season 7, things got intense beyond the wall and the internet had a lot to say about it.

Warning: Spoilers ahead. Proceed with caution.

It was a dramatic and extra long episode of Game of Thrones Sunday night. Between the zombie ice bears, the uncomfortable rising tension between the Stark sisters, everyone’s favorite ship shaping up to maybe be true, and, oh yeah, that ice dragon, there was a lot worth reflecting on and discussing. And, of course, the internet was there when we needed it, providing hot takes and enough spot-on GIFs to hold us over until next week’s season finale.

Here are a few of our favorites:

The Stark sisters turning on each other

Ugh. The whole Stark sisters turning against each other plot line is one a lot of us could do without. We waited so long for Arya and Sansa to reunite and then when they do, we have to watch helplessly as miscommunication and Littlefinger’s shadiness shoves a wedge between them. In Sunday night’s episode in particular, Arya confronted Sansa and maybe even threatened to steal her face? Whatever was happening, we didn’t care for it. And apparently social media fans were right there with us.

Action beyond the wall

Most of Sunday night’s episode took place in the wintry wonderland north of the Wall. An by “wonderland,” we actually mean hellscape. Jon Snow and his crew were outmanned on their quest to capture a wight, and while we didn’t lose as many characters as we feared we might, it was a frightening time to be a fan watching live.

Sansa is summoned

Again, Sansa and Arya were pretty frustrating in Sunday night’s episode. We’re hoping this storyline takes a turn and the two smart, strong women team up *against* Littlefinger and others out to get them instead.

Dany saves the day

As always, if you’re in trouble in the Game of Thrones universe and you’re on Khaleesi’s good side, she’s your first phone call, er, raven, when you need a helping dragon hand.

RIP dragon

We’re still pretty traumatized by this scene, to be honest, particularly thinking of the other two dragons losing a sibling and Dany losing one of her beloved “children.” But we will say the whole Night King ice javelin throw/plummeting dragon in flames/ice dragon resurrection sequence was pretty epic to watch on screen. Those Game of Thrones show runners know how to entertain.

If people had this much to say about this week’s episode, imagine how much the internet will be buzzing during next week’s season finale. We sort of can’t wait.
