Game of Thrones: A freaking dragon just [SPOILER] and it was crazy
The battle against the White Walkers north of the Wall on Sunday night’s episode of Game of Thrones was brutal. But one dramatic moment stood out.
Caution: Spoilers ahead. Proceed with caution.
Jon Snow and his motley crew of Wildlings and warriors set out on a quest north of the Wall at the end of last week’s Game of Thrones. This week the posse found themselves in the dangerous wastelands of the North, where zombie bears, Walkers and wights, and, apparently, ice dragons roam. Yes, ice dragons.
Let’s back up a minute. When Jon and co. realized on their trek that maybe they should have been better prepared to face, like, a billion wights and Walkers, Jon sent Gendry to get help. That help arrived in the form of Daenerys and her dragons (who have some experience with putting an end to bloody battles). Dany was able to save most of the group with her fire-breathing ride: melting the ice, turning the skeletal wights to ash, etc. But just like a few episodes back, the Mother of Dragons wasn’t able to protect her children this time.
The Night King spotted the creatures and proved he’d medal in the ice javelin by chucking a spear at one of Dany’s pets. It hit, and the dragon fell from the sky in flames, plummeting through the icy terrain below.
Dany was, understandably, devastated. But in the mayhem of battle, she knew she needed to save herself and the men she’d come to rescue. Jon didn’t make it onto the back of the dragon, but, long story short, he again showed his basically immortal spirit and hitched a ride on Uncle Benjen’s horse, much to Dany’s relief.
Cut back to the North and we got to see the Army of the Dead hoisting the dead dragon from beneath the ice. The Night King approached and—boom—ICE DRAGON. Will it breathe icicles? Will it head south of the wall? We have so many questions.

Here’s hoping we get answers in the season finale next week.
