Ben Platt is scheduled to depart from Dear Evan Hansen

There is always a musical that takes over the season and becomes the favorite, and this year, Ben Platt took our hearts. But he’s leaving.

Ben Platt has played Evan Hansen for quite some time. For those who don’t know, the show that took over the season this year focused on a high school kid with a broken arm who had a viral video for a dead kid go wrong.

Well, it’s a little more complicated than that. But really, that’s the gist of Dear Evan Hansen. The music is truly heartbreaking and from the soundtrack alone you can tell why Ben won the Tony this year for Best Lead Actor in a Musical.

But you only have a few months left to see him in the role that got him that sweet spinning trophy. According to Entertainment Weekly, Platt will be departing the show this November. Though we haven’t gotten news on a new actor to take on Evan, they have a lot to live up to. Again, Ben Platt won the Tony for his performance.

So will they go for a big name or get another relative unknown to do it? Before this, Ben had only been in the Pitch Perfect movies and Book of Mormon, but now, everyone knows his name. So will they keep that trend or get some big actor to take on Evan Hansen and his story?

We’ll have to wait and see but until they, you still have quite some time to see Ben Platt as Evan. That is if you can get a ticket. It’s been hard for quite some time now, and with Platt leaving, it might just get worse.
