6 things we want to see in Marvel’s The Defenders

Iron Fist should actually be enjoyable
I’m not going to lie—I still haven’t finished Iron Fist. My attempts stalled out after the eighth episode until last week when I realized I need to finish it before The Defenders. The premise makes sense on paper, but the execution came as the weakest of the Netflix series.
And it’s not just one thing that makes it the weakest outing. It wasn’t just flimsily choreographed fight scenes. Or senseless board meetings. Or just scenes that just weren’t interesting (trust me, I left to go grab snacks many times without feeling the need to pause so I wouldn’t miss anything).
Iron Fist felt very much thrown in just so we can come to this, The Defenders.
One thing it did do well: Show how much of a threat The Hand truly is. Daredevil’s second season tried to do this, but floundered into incoherency. Iron Fist may have been weak in the storytelling department, but it builds up to a great reveal of just how far of a reach the Hand has on the world.
Danny Rand may be the only member of the Defenders who truly understands just how big of a threat The Hand is. He went through a lot of self-discovery in his first season and had to come to terms with everything that’s changed. And everything he found out.
Finn Jones did say in an interview that Danny has grown up since the end of his series and will be a more mature man in The Defenders. That has to be an improvement. And working with a team of other super-powered people may help him find a place in the world.
