From The Onion, Inc family, ClickHole is a website that traffics in the art of the absurd, satirical stories.
The website, ClickHole launched in 2014, spoofs the kind of buzzy listicles and articles that get the most traffic on social media. Think about all those silly personality quizzes that determine who you “really are” and then imagine if those quizzes were populated with the most absurd answers imaginable. That’s ClickHole.
Staffed by mostly Onion writers and editors, ClickHole started as a satire of Buzzfeed, but has grown into a major traffic source for its parent company. With articles like “’90s Kids Rejoice! The Spider Eggs They Used to Fill Beanie Babies Are Finally Hatching,” and “16 Pictures of Beyoncé Where She’s Not Sinking in Quicksand,” it’s obviously dealing in the tongue-in-cheek, much like South Park has done from the beginning.
It has its cheeky sense of humor in common with South Park as well, and often leaves folks wondering, “Is it okay to laugh at this?” Before South Park, the lines of good taste and appropriate humor were a little more clear cut, but if you find your humor to be a little questionable, this is the site to bookmark.
