Claire and Jamie will reunite after a 20 year separation in episode 5 of the upcoming season. The third season will air on September 10 on Starz.

In a video released this week by Starz, we learn a lot about the upcoming season of the fantasy-drama, Outlander.  Caitriona Balfe, who plays Claire, talks about Jamie and Claire’s 20 year separation in the clip.  We get a glimpse at Claire in the 1940s and 1950s trying to continue on with her husband and child. We also see Jamie going into hiding after surviving the Battle of Culloden.

We’ve already seen a few clips of the upcoming Outlander season, but the promotional video released on Starz’s YouTube channel goes further in-depth.  Called “Parallel Lives,” the video goes into a little more detail about Outlander’s trajectory for the next season.

On the Television Critics Association Press Tour, Variety reports that the show will travel to Jamaica.  Caitriona Balfe said of the book series by Diana Gabaldon,

"it’s just a sequence of twists and turns. You’re constantly being kept on your toes. Who would have thought we’d end up on ships and in Jamaica this season."

The show follows one book per season.  With nine installments in the novel series and three short story collections, the Outlander series has enough source material to keep the show going for as long as the network wants.  There are also graphic novels, a musical, and two companion guides.  So even if Outlander doesn’t make it nine seasons, you can still get your Outlander fix for years to come.

Outlander  returns to Starz on Sept. 10, but we won’t see Jamie and Claire reunite until episode 5. So, I suppose we’ll just have to suffer through. Check out the Parallel Lives video above to hear more about Claire and Jamie’s big separation.  You can also keep an eye on Starz’s Outlander site for more news and featurettes.
