How dramatic is Kylo Ren in those Star Wars: The Last Jedi photos?

Star Wars: The Last Jedi might need a new subtitle casually mocking Kylo Ren, because he has all sorts of poses in a recent set of photos.

Fair warning: this post has discussion of images not publicly released by Lucasfilm for Star Wars: The Last Jedi (out Dec. 15), which is a long way of saying spoilers ahead.

Kylo Ren’s sense of drama is well-known to the Star Wars fandom already. Oh, yes, we know, he’s a tortured soul who’s fallen to the Dark Side, but he also has a weird appreciation for his grandfather’s Darth Vader era, has been known to throw tantrums, and so on and so forth.

It appears that this sort of thing has not abated in the most recent round of The Last Jedi leaks, which come to us first via Making Star Wars, then via Star Wars News Net, and ultimately Star Wars Theory, which actually has the pictures.

It’s quite the large set, with a total of 18 photos, which are pretty clearly just unedited shots (take a peek at the lightsabers). Adam Driver, in character, features in six of them. Interestingly enough, he’s still holding his helmet, but not actually wearing it. That fits with the trailer we saw at Star Wars Celebration Orlando. What brief glimpses we had at him showed that he’d discarded his helmet, and these photos make it seem like a consistent decision, at least for now.

Of course, Kylo isn’t the only Anakin Skywalker relative to embrace his inner model. Take a look at the two shots of Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker. They aren’t quite as dramatic, but that’s not saying much compared to the six photos of Kylo Ren.

There’s also a photo of Supreme Leader Snoke, which seems to back up the LEGO minifigure image that’s been around for a couple of months.
