Ed Sheeran makes his Game of Thrones debut in season 7 premiere
Ed Sheeran traveled to the seven kingdoms of Game of Thrones Sunday night for a cameo in the show’s season 7 premiere. *Spoilers ahead*
Armor and a cape is a good look on Ed Sheeran. The singer sported the ensemble when he made his much-anticipated cameo on the Game of Thrones season 7 premiere Sunday night. Sheehan talked up his appearance a few months back saying, in part: “I just do a scene with Maisie. I sing a song and then she goes, oh, that’s a nice song.”
And sing a song he did. One about women’s hands being warmer than gold (what’s the deeper meaning there?). And Arya did, in fact, tell him it was a nice song before sitting down with Sheehan’s unnamed character in the Riverlands and splitting some blackberry wine and a hearty bit of roasted rodent.
She also shared a juicy bit of intel with Sheeran’s band of woodland dwellers: namely, that she was on her way to kill the queen. The fellas seemed to think she was joking (they clearly didn’t see the opening scene of the episode where she slaughtered a whole castle of people with poison). So we’d have to argue with Sheeran’s claim that his role was insignificant as he got to hear about a major plot point.
Plus, we know Sheeran and Maisie Williams must have had a good time shooting their little scene as we saw them hanging together back in February:
Though Sheeran’s appearance on this season was known, it wasn’t confirmed which episode he might show up in. Of course, those who were paying attention to Twitter may have seen this Tweet from Sheeran Sunday morning:
Show runners have apparently been trying to get Sheeran on the show for years but with his busy rock star schedule, they had never quite been able to make it work. Until now. Here’s hoping we see more of Sheeran and his serenading skills later in the season!
