ICYMI: Nelsan Ellis’ death, Donal Logue’s daughter comes home, J.K Rowling’s manuscript
A lot was going on in the entertainment world while you were enjoying your summer BBQ this weekend: True Blood fans lost a star, a Gotham actor found his child, and J.K. Rowling reveals another manuscript.
Before you get back into “work mode,” here are a few things you might have missed over the weekend:
True Blood”s Nelsan Ellis dies at 39
It’s been a rough couple days for True Blood fans. HBO confirmed Saturday that actor Nelsan Ellis, who played the always fierce Lafayette on the popular vampire drama tragically has died from complications from heart failure. He was only 39. There was, of course, an outpouring of love from his fans at the news, as well as his co-stars. Octavia Spencer, who worked with Ellis in The Help, posted on Instagram Saturday morning, saying in part “My heart breaks for his kids and family.”
Gotham actor Donal Logue’s daughter is home safe
In happier news, a scary situation is over for Gotham actor Donal Logue. Back in late June, Logue had turned to social media for help when his 16-year-old daughter Jade went missing in New York City. The NYPD announced the teen had been found safe Saturday. Logue, who plays Detective Harvey Bullock on Gotham, thanked fans, the police, the FBI and others who helped on Twitter Saturday.
J.K. Rowling has another manuscript hanging in her closet
And Harry Potter famously lived in a cupboard, but it sounds like author J.K. Rowling has more hiding in her own closet. Namely, an unpublished manuscript. Yep. Rowling told CNN in an interview that will air Monday night that at one point she wrote a fairy tale. Only instead of publishing it, she scrawled it across a party dress for her 50th birthday soiree. (The Halloween-ish theme was to come as your own personal nightmare. Hers was a lost manuscript.) The story, she says, is still hanging in her wardrobe.
