Steve Trevor is an important fixture in the Wonder Woman lore and director Patty Jenkins talks about his future in the cinematic universe.
When it comes to Patty Jenkins, she’s now one of the most talked about directors on Twitter. Why? Well, she was the first woman to direct a female-led superhero movie and she did an incredible job. But many are asking questions of Jenkins about the characters we met in Wonder Woman and their future in the universe.
There is going to be spoilers ahead. If you haven’t seen Wonder Woman, beware.
Steve Trevor, the man who crash lands on Themyscira, ends up falling in love with our heroine. The only downfall? He has to sacrifice himself to save ‘today’ so that Diana can save the world. As expected, fans were sad because many fell in love with the dynamic between Diana and Steve.
Jenkins talked to Fandango about Steve and whether or not we’ll see him in future movies.
"All I can say is it was a dilemma. It’s something I hope we don’t talk about in the public [because] I want people to see, but it’s very hard to know which characters will be in the next movie because of the time period, so it’s a big question."
Now while Steve died in this universe, it isn’t a far departure from the comics. In fact, Steve dies and reappears in multiple different variations. From Aphrodite bringing him back to it being Steve’s grandson, Trevor is often a constant figure in Wonder Woman’s life.
So will DC finally do the thing where a character is never really dead? Will we see multiple different variations of Steve Trevor? Who knows but we at least all want him to come back in some way. Chris did a great job and we’d hate that to be the last we see of Steve Trevor.
