Hasbro Toys revealed Shocker’s unshocking outfit in Spider-Man: Homecoming

It’s hard to come up with cool looks for every single superhero and villain, but Shocker’s costume in Spider-Man: Homecoming looks the worst.

Spider-Man: Homecoming opens in theaters next month. So far, the ad campaign’s done a really great job showing off teenage Peter Parker, Michael Keaton’s new-and-improved take on the Vulture, and of course, Iron Man. But there are other characters in the film that probably have a lot of people’s curiosities piqued.

For example, who exactly is Zendaya playing? Who is she really? And can we see more Tinkerer? Oh, yeah, what about Donald Glover? And what about Shocker? I mean, Spider-Man: Homecoming boasts a pretty stellar cast, but none of those characters are being played up enough. Without any sort of legitimate look at Shocker, we must instead look to toys. (Toys never let me down.)

With a hat tip to CBR, we see what the Shocker’s cooking up:

Honestly, it’s lame.

Sorry to cut to the chase, but it’s derivative of things we’ve seen before. Plus, it looks so uninspired when compared to the awesome wings the Vulture sports in the film. But perhaps this is done intentionally. We know Vulture takes stuff from the garbage and wrecked Avengers tech to create his weaponry. So maybe Shocker is just trying to make do with what he has.

Though, from a costume designer’s perspective, I still don’t see how you can go from looking like a mattress in a deep cut v-neck body suit to stealing Batman’s war suit (from Batman v Superman) and Crossbones’ punching gauntlet things (from Captain America: Civil War) and call it day.

Here’s Shocker’s comics look:

If you look closely at the Hasbro toy, you can definitely see all the cushioning he’s using. But I just don’t like the accessories. Those goggles aren’t doing him any favors either.
