Season 2 of Stranger Things will end on another cliffhanger. And that could only mean one thing: There will be a Season 3!
We still have months to go before the Stranger Things season 2 premiere. And yet we’re already bracing ourselves for another cliffhanger.
We have plenty of questions going into season 2. Where is Eleven? And what’s going on with the slugs Will was coughing up? Luckily, Gaten Matarazzo recently spoke with HuffPost about what to expect for Season 2 of Stranger Things.
And it doesn’t look like we’ll be kept in the dark for long. Matarazzo did say that many of our questions will be answered and that there will be “a good amount of explanation that been looking for.”
But, of course, once they answer those questions Season 2 of Stranger Things will then just leave us with even more mysteries to solve. Matarazzo explained that there will also be “some new stories coming in that you’re gonna want to hear about if there is a Season 3. Also, we got another cliffhanger in there for ya, so that’s gonna be exciting.”
Yet another cliffhanger? We don’t know if we can bear it. But they wouldn’t just leave us hanging, right? So this could only mean one thing: There will be a season 3 of Stranger Things! And there has been evidence that there are plans for a third season for a while now.
Producer Shawn Levy previously told Mashable that the Duffer Brothers had too many ideas to fit into season 2. They realized that “not all of our grand ideas are going to be serviced in one season … If we had 40 ideas going into the season, 30 are going to pick, and the rest go in the back of our head for, hopefully, future chapters.”
The Duffer brothers have also said that they want the show to have a satisfying ending and they don’t want to drag it on but “also we’ve laid the groundwork for further seasons.”
So they’ll be ending season 2 on yet another cliffhanger to keep us hooked and coming back for season 3. It’s been killing us waiting for Season 2 and we can’t even imagine having to do it all over again for season 3! But, of course, we will.
So what can we expect from season 2 of Stranger Things? Well, the cast previously teased that this season is going to be “darker.” We’ll see more of the “history and lore of the show itself” and more character development from characters like Will. And the villain will make the Demogorgon “look quaint in retrospect.”
