2 Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place

Anything that brings us a baby faced Ryan Reynolds is okay in my book. 2 Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place was a lighthearted buddy-comedy that came along to capitalize on the Friends phenomenon of the late ’90s and early ’00s.

Reynolds, (who was equally handsome back then, as well) played Berg, roommate to Pete, and downstairs neighbor to Sharon. Berg started the series as a lovable slacker, and then went on to go to med school. Sharon worked for a horrible corporate chemical, for whom she constantly apologized. Sharon also went on to marry a cutie of her own, none other than Nathan Fillion. Pete changed careers quite a bit, and I couldn’t ever really keep up. However, his love interested was played by Tiffani Thiessen, and she scratches my ’90s itch every time.

The show eventually dropped “and a pizza place” from its name, and went on to air for three seasons. It had some trouble when ABC bounced it around from time slot to time slot. Since the characters on this show, like me, were a little younger than the Friends on NBC, I always felt a little more kinship with them. The show was a lighthearted, fun was to look at twenty-somethings, and their lives didn’t felt as improbable as those on the other show.
