Season 8 of Game of Thrones will be just six episodes

Game of Thrones is quickly coming to an end. So now that Season 8 will officially be six episodes, how will they get everything done in just 13 hours?
Season 7 of Game of Thrones hasn’t even begun, and yet we’re already bracing ourselves for the end. We already knew that season 7 would only be seven episodes. But now the rumors about season 8 have been confirmed: With just six episodes, the final season is going to be very, very short.
Seasons 1 through 6 of Game of Thrones have consistently been 10 episodes each. But we’ve known for a while that the final two seasons would be shorter. There will be seven episodes this season. And now sources have confirmed to Entertainment Weekly that Season 8 will have a measly six episodes, bringing the total to 73.
So what does this mean? We have a mere 13 hours to bring everything together. And there’s still so much going on! Daenerys is arriving in Westeros this season and the Starks have to reunite. Ultimately, we still need to find out who ends up sitting on the Iron Throne if they all survive the war with the Night King. As we saw from the new trailer, “The Great War is here.” And they want to accomplish all that in just 13 hours? Good luck.
Well, it makes sense now that David Benioff and Dan Weiss previously told Entertainment Weekly that things would be progressing at a much faster pace during the final two seasons of Game of Thrones. Now that the war is finally here, things will be picking up steam for Cersei, Jon Snow, Daenerys and the gang.
“The conflicts that have been building the past six years are upon them and those facts give them a sense of urgency that make [the characters] move faster,” Weiss explained.
Winter is finally here. We’re dreading the end of Game of Thrones. Luckily, this may not be the end of the Game of Thrones world. HBO does have five spinoffs in the works. While the prequels haven’t been written yet and may not be greenlit, we could see some more from Thrones in the future. So our lives may not be completely dark and full of terrors when Thrones ends.

And, obviously, we still have season 7 of Game of Thrones to get through. It will, of course, premiere on July 16 on HBO.
