Episode 4: Xanthippe returns!

No heartfelt moments here, I just like Xanthippe. Specifically, I like how mad Xan gets at Kimmy all the time. Kimmy seems to manage to bust out her most ridiculous ideas in front of Xan every time she sees her, and Xan’s utter exasperation is just pure delight. Like the “all that and a bag of chips” remark, or Kimmy’s ridiculous performance in the hallway until Xan let her in. Or Kimmy’s deliberate drop of silly, embarrassing Xan stories every time her friends are around.

Xanthippe ends up not serving too much of a purpose in this season — she’s more filler and set-up for Kimmy to have important moments, but I’m nonetheless glad she’s still around (though how they’ll make her reappear in season 4 is beyond me). One thing I did miss was Xanthippe actually finding out who Kimmy was. They made such a big deal about it in the first two seasons that the fact we never actually see Xan’s reaction or get a snarky teenage quip about it, at least, felt like a missed opportunity. Instead, we see the two almost become friends over their shared embarrassment about what information about them is on Google. I guess that’s one way to become pals.
