Marvel’s The Defenders – August 18
Starring: Sigourney Weaver, Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, Charlie Cox, and Finn Jones
Premise: If you haven’t heard anything about Netflix’s Defenders series, it’s likely you have been living under a rock and don’t have access to the internet. It’s a series that’s been years in the making, and culminates in the mother of all crossovers.
It’s set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and holds (mostly) true to all the other Marvel films in the franchise. It features a mashup of all of Netflix’s Marvel heroes, bringing you Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Daredevil and the Iron Fist in one handy series.
This installment picks up a only a few months after the end of the Iron Fist and Daredevil seasons. It It finds all our favorite small-screen heroes uniting to fight a common enemy in The Hand.
The buzz: It is understandably pretty high. Each show, individually, has created a spectacular precedent for superheroes on TV. So, naturally, this has pretty big shoes to fill. Den of Geek comments on this, saying, “This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together.”
