It’s the season finale for “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD!” Are you prepared for the twists and turns? It’s a jam-packed ride from start to finish
Welcome to the Agents of SHIELD season 4 finale! It’s been one heck of a run, and it’s good to know we’ll be back with our SHIELD compatriots in their fall (after Inhumans, of course).
But first, the finale!
Not-So-Short Summary
Our SHIELD friends try to figure out where they stand now that Aida is chasing them and also wanting to destroy the world. Plus, you know, everyone working through the fact that they’ve lived two lives and done horrible things, Fitz more than others.
Oh, and Aida is shutting down the Framework. Which does not bode well for Elena, who at least has Radcliffe on her side in trying to find Mack while Daisy and Fitz try to protect them.
MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. – “World’s End” – With the surprising emergence of Ghost Rider, Coulson and the team attempt to stop Aida from ending the world on the exciting season finale of “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” TUESDAY, MAY 16 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. (ABC/Eric McCandless)

Robbie Reyes is back in action! He shows up wanting the Darkhold, but Aida takes off before he can get it. He found a tear in the other world and that’s how he escaped. And Ghost Rider wants to bring Aida back to the other world for good.
Aida sends Ivanov and another LMD to the hearing SHIELD should be at with Talbot. They offer a solution to all of the crap SHIELD has been pulling: the Darkhold.
And that’s when a Daisy LMD bursts in and shoots Talbot in the head (somehow there’s still a pulse). Havoc ensues, there’s a fun Daisy/Robbie team-up that involves melting LMDs. It’s an issue, though, because the world will soon see LMD!Daisy trying to assassinate Talbot.
And it will give Aida the world she so desires.
Our SHIELD friends return to base to start a heist. Or is it a sting? Anyway, Aida shows up where FitzSimmons are. We have a standoff that includes jamming a screwdriver into Simmons’ chest and then electrocuting her.
MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. – “Farewell, Cruel World!” – The clock is ticking for Daisy and Simmons to get the team out of the Framework, but not everyone is ready and willing to leave, on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” TUESDAY, MAY 2 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. (ABC/John Fleenor)
ELIZABETH HENSTRIDGE
Don’t worry! It’s just an LMD and it was all a ploy to get Aida to face off against Coulson at the gateway. Only it’s not Coulson — it’s Ghost Rider! He and Aida have a teleportation face off across the city, only to come back to the SHIELD catacombs and get burned into oblivion.
In the aftermath, they get a bite to eat before officials come to arrest them… only to have the shadowed officials freeze them all. “The window closes in two minutes. Take them,” the bald guy says. Um, what?
Post-Credits Stinger
Coulson wakes up in a new place, flips some switches to open a window onto an asteroid field. And for a moment, I thought it was Magneto’s Asteroid M.
Oh, and the teaser trailer for Inhumans. Which is just voices over the logo, but we all knew that.
Badass Moment of the Week
Robbie’s decapitation of one of Aida’s LMD minions with his flaming chain. Also completely melting that Daisy LMD was pretty legit.
MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. – “The Return” – In the exciting penultimate episode leading into next week’s season finale, Coulson and the team’s victory in the Framework is short-lived, as an even deadlier enemy looms against them all, on “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” TUESDAY, MAY 9 (10:00-11:00 p.m. EDT), on The ABC Television Network. (ABC/Jennifer Clasen)

“I have a cybernetic hand, I’ve been to another planet. These things happen,” Coulson blatantly tells Talbot.
Man, the twists and turns in this episode were so darn good. I honestly thought that this show had killed Simmons. Because at this point, why the heck not?! Throw another curveball at FitzSimmons!
Okay, so Robbie can make portals like Doctor Strange…? That’s pretty cool, but also … I have many questions.
I didn’t mention much about the scenes in the Framework with Mack and Elena, mostly because they played out exactly like I thought they would. And Radcliffe’s end in the world at the last sunset, just kind of disappearing as he toasts the world he created was a little haunting and a little funny.
And we’ll find out more about that deal Coulson made with Ghost Rider, but not for a while! Feel free to leave your theories in the comments!

That concludes this season of Agents of SHIELD! Please rejoin us when episodes return in the late fall. And don’t mind me while I go cry and wait for it to return.
