Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD season 4 episode 21 synopsis: The Return

It’s the penultimate episode of “Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD.” What will this last episode before the season finale hold? We have the official synopsis!

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD has just two episodes left in its fourth season.

In last week’s episode, nearly all of our SHIELD cohorts made it out of the Framework. Not exactly unscathed, though. And one of them was left behind, albeit voluntarily.

Most of our SHIELD friends still reel from the emotional toll living a second life took on them. I mean, Coulson was shot before he came out, and May just had her Hydra world shaken to its core.

Worst off is Fitz, who returns to the real world reeling. Literally doubled over with the weight of the atrocities his alter ego (is that a good enough term?) did in the name of Hydra. Does that make Fitz inherently evil in this world?

There’s a lot of moral quandaries to discover. But not when an evil former robot is on the loose!

The official synopsis, courtesy of ABC:

"Coulson and the team’s victory in the Framework is short-lived, as an even deadlier enemy looms against them all"

Well, did any of us anticipate this to be an easy return to the real world? Especially, you know, with the real, human Aida/Ophelia/Madame Hydra running around with teleporting powers.

Plus she has Fitz, and if she can keep his consciousness stuck in his Framework mindset, that’s a deadly ally on her side.

And, you know, the crazy Russian leader who wants nothing more than to slit Phil Coulson’s throat. Plus, they can’t leave Mack in the Framework! It’s going to be a weird ride until the finale.
