Harry Styles’ “Sign of the Times” is getting a music video
What better way to kick off the week of Harry Styles’ album finally coming out than with a music video … and why not build up hype for said music video?
To quote from Harry Styles, it’s time to “stop your crying,” because “Sign of the Times” will get a music video. He posted a teaser to his personal Twitter account today. Does it have his face in it all? Do we even get to hear more of the song?
Well, the answer to both of those questions is no, but beyond that, you’ll just have to see what’s what. Far be it from us to tell you everything:
And yet, as of this writing, there are more than 200,000 likes on this tweet alone, and over 100,000 retweets. Such is the power of Styles.
Assuming that this really is the opening to the “Sign of the Times” music video, might it be safe to say that he’ll just show sweeping shots of nature instead of long, lingering shots of him singing about breaking through the atmosphere and what not? Of course, the teaser may have absolutely nothing to do with the music video, but those shots look pretty expensive, and why waste them on a 16-second teaser?
Anyway, the teaser confirms that we’ll see a music video sometime on May 8. With Harry Styles (the album), arriving May 12, this seems like a pretty coordinated effort to build up even more publicity prior to the album, Saturday Night Live appearances notwithstanding. After the album’s release, he’ll also do some work with James Corden. Oh, and there’s that little matter of his going on a solo world tour … though tickets sold out basically as soon as they went live, according to Billboard.

It’s really not a bad start for the next phase of his career, to put it in the form of an understatement. Keep an eye on Styles’ Twitter through May 8 for the video.
