New photos for The Defenders focus on the heroes, not the villain
A set of new production photos from Netflix’s The Defenders only has one shot of Sigourney Weaver’s Alexandra, and she doesn’t even look that villainous.
After not hearing much about The Defenders, more information has dropped rapidly in the past few days. We thought it would culminate in the trailer, but apparently, that isn’t the case. Instead, as CBR found and as found on Netflix’s press page for the series, there are new photos to look at as well. Let’s get right to it.

Based on Iron Fist looking like he feels threatened by Luke Cage’s presence, this is probably from when they meet and Luke absolutely levels Danny.

See, compare how Matt looks next to Luke, and then go back and look at Luke standing in front of Danny.

Claire Temple just cannot believe how Luke still gets himself involved in these problems. (CBR reads concern into her expression instead, but we see a slight frustration there too.) Also, who leaves their closet open like that? Did she just grab her coat to leave?

This scene should look familiar to those who watched the trailer. Matt is still an attorney, people, and he can represent people like Jessica Jones … who has a great expression here.

Look at the distance between Danny, Luke, and Jessica here. The guess is that they’re looking at Matt somewhere off-screen, but that’s just a guess.

If The Defenders all consists heavily of Jessica Jones side-eying everything as much as she possibly can, then it will be a great series.

The reason you can’t see her face in this one is because she’s rolling her eyes so hard that they would break the lens, or at least that’s what I think. Also, those dumplings look woefully ignored.

What’s up, Stick? Again, Luke looks the most chill but also ready to throw down as much as Jessica and Matt and yes, even Danny.

And here’s Alexandra, looking really lovely in that piece. Interestingly, she seems to always wear light colors, contrasting to the generally dark palettes of Jessica, Matt, Luke, and Danny.
