11 Pop Culture Releases You Need to Know About in May
10. Batman and Bill
As the trailer for the documentary Batman & Bill states above, you likely know about Bob Kane’s involvement in the creation of the Caped Crusader and his world. But the work of Bill Finger often went unnoticed, although he did receive credits in shows like Gotham as well as Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
(By the way? Finger also co-created Green Lantern … Granted, that means we had to deal with the Ryan Reynolds movie, but we’ve also had to deal with Batman and Robin.)
Without him, there wouldn’t be a Batman. There’s a reason the trailer lists off some of the most-well-known characters, from the Dark Knight to his original Boy Wonder partner in Dick Grayson to some of the biggest villains out there like the Joker, and then emphasizes that Finger had a hand (no pun intended) in all of them coming to life and becoming the characters we know today.
Batman & Bill is a Hulu documentary, and it’s pretty clearly trying to entice fans of comic books over to their side as opposed to Netflix’s stable of Marvel superhero shows. (With that and The Handmaid’s Tale continuing into May, it also looks like Hulu’s trying to expand its library further still.)
You’ll be able to watch the documentary starting May 6.
