The main area lacks some character

This is one of the slightly negative things I will say about this new reboot. If you picture the main area from the old show, the one where Joel and Mike used to stand, you can see it perfectly in your head: the weird purplish pinkish grey of the walls, the walls made out of crazy wirings. The ridiculous door right behind them and the giant siren lights up top. And the portal window! How can you forget the portal window on the left?!

If you look at any screen caps or pictures from the new set, it still strives for that same feel. But something about it falls short, and I don’t know if I can put my finger on it. Because in trying to describe it right now, I had to look up a picture to remember what it looks like.

It’s not necessarily memorable. It still has the wirings and it’s actually more of a purple color than the original. But the lines of the walls are too crisp. It feels too modern and clean. You’re talking about a ship that houses a guy and a handful of robots. Shouldn’t it look a little more disheveled, even in design?

Maybe it’s less the walls behind Jonah than the table in front of him…
