Christine Campbell – The New Adventures of Old Christine

I might have picked Christine Campbell as for my best friend draft because she most reminds me of myself. She’s just trying to do her best, even though, often, her best isn’t nearly good enough.

As a recently divorced, single mom, she’s not afraid to admit when she’s failing. Although what she considers “failing” is still doing a lot better than so many other women I know, she just keeps going. She’s one of the most flawed, complicated individuals in the TV universe, but she’s also super real and relatable.

Not afraid to admit when she’s jealous, hurt, scared, or overwhelmed, having Christine as a best friend would always ensure that you would have someone in the trenches with you. She is not trying to compete with you about who’s doing better. She’s more likely to share a humiliating story about something she’s done to embarrass herself than make you feel awful for the dumb thing you did.

Chances are, the thing that Christine did won’t be half as bad as your thing, and you’ll walk away feeling just a tiny bit better about your choices. At least you aren’t still wearing your maternity jeans nine years after your kid was born. Or maybe you are. It doesn’t really matter, because Christine won’t judge you for it.
