From President Bannon to John McCain, Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert covered it all before the Syrian airstrike, and they gave us what we wanted and more.
Seth Meyers and Stephen Colbert are very much figureheads in the ‘comedy against Trump’ wave that is happening right now. And they’re doing a great job of entertaining their viewers while giving us news that we might not hear about otherwise.
Meyers decided to take on the fact that Trump hates the President Steve Bannon meme. Because that’s what is really important right now, considering the fact that Trump took Bannon off of the National Security Council earlier this week. But Seth also touched on the Senate meeting yesterday and everything going on with the president and his meeting with the Chinese president.
Because if you don’t remember, Trump said when he finally met the Chinese president, he’d only give him a Big Mac.
Colbert decided to take on Congressman Devin Nunes and his recusal from Russian investigations. Well, for a moment before he then went on to talk about the Senate as well and the appointment of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. For those who don’t know, the Senate basically changed the rules so then the Democrats could not filibuster Gorsuch.
And then, in a shocking twist of events (not really), McCain ended up voting for the nuclear option that he said was idiotic.
Much like Meyers, Colbert also took on Trump and China (even making fun of how the president pronounces the country). It got a little dicey with Stephen’s weird secret sauce jokes but then he saved it by bringing up the Trump quote that many are commenting on.
For those who don’t know, Trump said that he had a successful 13 weeks in the presidency. In fact, the most successful. What Colbert didn’t point out was that Trump has only been in office for 11 weeks.
