Karen Gillan
Technically, she belongs to Marvel since she plays Nebula in the Guardians of the Galaxy films, but Joss Whedon used to belong to Marvel, too. Gillan has since proved that she’s worthy of a good action sequence.
Fans may be mostly familiar with Gillan from her time on Doctor Who. As Amy Pond, the Doctor’s companion, Gillan played a character who was filled to the brim with excitement and energy. After Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, we’ll see Gillan in Jumanji, where’ll she be joining The Rock, Jack Black and Kevin Hart in a reimagining of the classic board game film starring Robin Williams.
As Gillan continues to get more work and audiences get to know her face more and more, she may want to consider headlining something of her own. She’s already demonstrated what a versatile actress she is, so if she wants to don the cowl and walk along some rooftops, I’d be okay with it. Obviously, she’s already got the hair, so she’s halfway there. She knows what it takes to be in a superhero film and she’s already proven how committed she’d be to the role.
Of course, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is going to keep going, but it’s not like Nebula’s a huge role. But Batgirl? Legendary.
