Justin Theroux Has Apparently Joined the Cast of Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Today in casting news, it’s been revealed that Justin Theroux will have a role in Star Wars: The Last Jedi as an “expert slicer.”

When Star Wars: The Force Awakens hit theaters in 2015, it brought back stars from the original trilogy and added some surprise cameos. Even some cameos that nobody recognized in the movie, like Simon Pegg in the Unkar Platt suit and Daniel Craig as the Stormtrooper who left the cell with the door open.

As we hear more news about The Last Jedi, Making Star Wars reports that The Leftovers star Justin Theroux will get his chance to play in the lucrative franchise’s sandbox this December. The site describes his role as an “expert slicer,” which is just a fancy word for a hacker.

But he won’t be dressed in a jeans and a hoodie like any modern black (or white, we don’t know his intent yet) hat. Instead, it appears he wants to impress the people in what MSW describes as a “pivotal moment” in the film.

"His costume is pretty interesting as well. Imagine Indiana Jones’ white tuxedo from Temple of Doom but weirder and with a Star Wars twist. Theroux’s character wears a white tuxedo-style jacket over a black suit."

Here’s a cool breakdown of the Indiana Jones scene in question for a fresh idea of what Han Solo looked like in a dapper white coat.

While I’d love to see Justin Theroux channel his role in Charlie’s Angels and play an accented villain, there’s no word as to how he fits into the scene. Or whether he’s there to help or harm the Resistance. As the site points out, we can expect some sort of casino scene, which means Theroux may also have a scene with Laura Dern.
