8. Eating Soup Alone On a Bench

When Ben and Leslie broke up because she wanted to run for city council, he ended up depressed but he couldn’t tell anyone why. Their relationship was a secret and he had no one to turn to. So, being the sweet little weirdo that he is, Ben Wyatt decided to eat his soup on a bench alone.

Luckily Donna and Tom found him and saved him but it really gave us a look into how strange and lonely Ben can be. He went from being extremely popular (he did get elected as the mayor of Partridge as a teenager) to being outcast.

No one in his hometown wanted him so he jumped from town to town for work. He never really had anyone other than Chris and he couldn’t tell Chris why he was upset without risking his and Leslie’s jobs. So instead, he chose to eat soup alone on a bench.

There really isn’t anything important to it, it just makes Ben that much more endearing. He didn’t know what to do so he just sat outside with his soup rather than eating at his desk or going inside somewhere. He’s basically just a super weirdo who we love.
