Take That Star Wars! Gary Barlow Confirms Cameo in The Last Jedi

Take That’s 90s heartthrob Gary Barlow has apparently wrangled himself a cameo in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Maybe the Resistance is Back For Good?

The return of Star Wars in 2015 was a massive hit, and, like any successful venture, everyone wanted to climb aboard. Star Wars: The Force Awakens was filled with cameos–not just from the original cast, but from actors famous for being in other things, including Simon Pegg as Unkar Plutt, Daniel Craig as a Stormtrooper, and a bunch of Game of Thrones crossovers.

Now it looks like The Last Jedi is doing the same. The first celebrity cameo to confirm their appearance is Gary Barlow, famously from the 90s boyband Take That, who confirmed on ITV’s morning show Lorraine that he was going to be somewhere in the background as an extra.

According to Comic Book Resource, he confirmed, while referencing Daniel Craig’s famous cameo.:

"“I’m not a stormtrooper, but I am in it.”"

But, as we know, Star Wars and Disney work hard to keep these things under wraps, and as soon as Barlow admitted he was in it, he realised he’d probably mucked it up.

"“Now I’ve said that, I’ll probably be out. I think the ‘Star Wars’ people are so strict about what information [is divulged]. So me saying that, I’ve probably just done myself out of a role.”"

Or perhaps they’ll just do him in like Game of Thrones does to actors who don’t behave and kill them off messily on screen.

Meanwhile, I’ll sit here fantasizing that his role is that leading a Resistance musical number in the face of Kylo Ren where Finn, Poe and Rey all join him in a chorus of “Back for Good”.

Now if only they would find a spot of Robbie Williams….
