For many of us, American Horror Story brings us great joy every season. And now, Ryan Murphy is bringing the horror story of the election to our homes.

American Horror Story is bringing our most recent election into our homes. If that horror story wasn’t hard enough to live through, Murphy and company want us to look at it time and time again.

At PaleyFest, the creators talked about how the idea for the seventh season came to be.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the idea came from tax papers for season 6. “At the beginning of every season, in order to secure the tax benefit, you have to give a synopsis of what you’re doing,” Minear said. “That was not okay with Ryan, but we had to give them something, so we made up this completely batsh– thing for those two paragraphs and the funny thing is, we’re doing it this year.”

Back in January, Ryan Murphy announced the theme on Watch What Happens Live and said that Hillary and Trump would not be part of the series. He later went on to change that story. But as of right now, only Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters are confirmed for the cast.

As we learn more about the newest season of American Horror Story, we’ll report it here. After all, we’re probably more excited than anyone to see what this election series is going to turn out to be. It is still a Ryan Murphy show after all.
