“What Happens in Cabo…” – Laguna Beach

Aside from the fact that Stephen Colletti straight up slut shamed his then-girlfriend Kristin for dancing on the bar, this episode is pretty typical of a high school spring break. That is, if you’re super rich and privileged, have the means to jet off to Mexico for the week, and have access to unlimited booze and (probably) uppers.

This trip to Cabo San Lucas falls right smack dab at the height of the  LC/Stephen/Kristin love triangle. Leading up to the trip, everyone is speculating about who’s going to hook up with whom, and it just doesn’t get much more Spring Break than that.

Once everyone arrives, the debauchery begins, and then culminates with a drunken Kristin dancing on the bar and pawing all over her crush, Sam. Stephen pitches a giant fit, telling her she’s “disgusting” and calling her a “slut.” He’s really awful.

Apparently, in Laguna Beach being a terrible misogynist is a real turn on, because Stephen’s little outburst drives LC straight into his arms. Gross. They’re both completely gross.

Every single thing about this episode give me some nostalgic feels. Granted, me and my high school friends weren’t this awful to each other (well, maybe a little), but there was absolutely some dangerous binge drinking and questionable decisions. Because isn’t that the whole point of Spring Break?
