7. The Hug (2.05)

Has there ever been such an iconic, epic, unexpected hug? The run! The catch! Everyone’s faces! This was a truly great scene that marked a new step in Bellamy and Clarke’s relationship, certainly. After the wild end to Season 1 – Clarke closing the dropship door with Bellamy and Finn still outside, thinking they died, and Clarke and her friends inside the dropship being captured by Mount Weather as soon as they stepped foot outside the dropship…it was a serious cliffhanger.

The first few episodes of season 2 were separation for the two fearless leaders – Finn, Bellamy, Monroe finding each other on the outside, and connecting (being saved, actually) by Kane and the rest of the Ark that has finally landed on Earth. Meanwhile, Clarke, Jasper, Monty, Miller, Harper and many more are inside Mount Weather, where a whole colony of people still live, unable to go outside because of radiation levels – and for some reason, they’re not letting sky people out.

Clarke escapes with Anya after discovering her, and hundreds of other Grounders, are being caged in Mount Weather and hung upside down, strung up for their blood. After a struggle back and forth between Clarke and Anya on the outside, they finally make it back to Camp Jaha – only for Anya to be shot by guards, and an unrecognizable Clarke dragged inside.

It’s her mother that recognizes her, and cleans her up, lets her rest – and after a tearful reunion, Clarke reconnects with Raven as well, waking up just in time for Bellamy and Octavia to return from their own rescue mission.

Once Clarke sees Bellamy – alive, not dead because of her – she breaks into a sprint and launches herself into his arms, closing her eyes and holding tightly with a smile. Stunned, Bellamy doesn’t respond for a second – until he wraps his arms back around her, too.

"“Now there’s something I thought I’d never see.”"
