March Pi Day Madness: 14 Pie Recipes And 3 Pie Crusts To Celebrate 3.14
Key Lime Pie
Key lime pie is the best. My friend Jon wants you to know that if you disagree you are wrong. He is a neuroscientist, so he knows about these brain things. You can’t argue with science.
Chobani’s key lime pie recipe has a lot to offer as a health food. First is the obvious: it contains non-fat Greek yogurt, which is deliciously tangy and full of protein. Second, the filling also uses condensed milk, which also comes in the fat-free variety and had 40 grams of protein in each 14-ounce can. This pie is practically an energy bar. Third, it is full of vitamin C from the cup of key lime juice. Ok, the filling also contains egg yolks and confectioners sugar, but it is a dessert. We need to live a little. This pie is still probably less sugar per serving than your average breakfast cereal.
The topping is Greek yogurt sweetened with confectioners sugar and sprinkled with lime zest. I really like this crust, too, which contains only delicious ginger snaps and melted butter. So spicy and crunchy! And of course, butter.
Recommended ice cream pairing: You don’t want ice cream with this pie. Crumble some ginger snap crumbs on top and serve it with more ginger snaps.
