Are you somehow new to Wolverine? Then check out some of the best stories featuring this fan favorite of the X-Men.

Everyone knows Wolverine. No, seriously, if you live somewhere with even a single movie screen or comic shop, chances are you’ve heard a thing or two about Marvel’s beloved X-Man.

Millions have seen his exploits thanks to Hugh Jackman, the Australian actor who shot to superstardom thanks to taking on the role in multiple X-Men movies. While there’s absolutely no shame in coming to the X-Men fandom through the films, there’s also a world of stories waiting for you in the comics.

Actually, it’s more like multiple dimensions. Marvel is especially well known as a comics company that loves to play with setting and continuity. It sure helps to have multiple dimensions to play in, especially when comics creators have promised to kill off important characters.

That last point really isn’t much of a spoiler, given how many times the X-Men seem to die and get subsequently resurrected, but we’ll discuss it in relation to Wolverine later. As you likely know, “dead” is never really dead when it comes to comics, anyway.

Wolverine’s popularity has a lot to do with the common love of the anti-hero. Now, he’s not really a bad guy, but he sure does love using those razor-sharp adamantium claws to teach the actual villains a thing or two. He is also generally a cranky, hard-living sort of fellow who likes to hang around in bars and fight crime for the thrill of it. I don’t know about you, but that sounds like way more fun than any other X-Men position (sorry, Cyclops).

So, are you looking to delve a little deeper into the Wolverine canon? There’s enough of his stories over the decades of X-Men history that it could make your head spin. No worries, however. Read on to see some of the twenty most interesting Wolverine stories in Marvel comics. And, remember: spoiler warnings apply.
