12. The Warrior of the Light

Before you scoff at these Game of Thrones theories (and this one certainly lends itself to some scoffing), let’s remember something: this whole series is based on a collection of books called A Song of Ice and Fire (with the Ice representing the Starks, and the Fire representing the Targaryens). There is no one who represents “Ice and Fire” more than Jon Snow, who is both a Stark (through his mother) and a Targaryen (through his father).

Let’s go back to a time when we thought that Jon Snow was no longer amongst the living, but was revived by the Lady Melisandre.

At that time, Melisandre prophesized that the Azor Ahai – the Warrior of the Light – would have “the blood of the dragon” and would be “reborn in smoke and salt.”

Clearly, Jon Snow has the blood of the dragon. As for the “smoke and salt” rebirth: the smoke was pretty evident in the resurrection ritual, but the “salt” could refer to the “salty tears” that his fellow Nightswatchmen cried when they thought he’d died.

It looks like, then, that Jon Snow is the Warrior of the Light.
