Bill Paxton Tribute: Stormchasers Pay Tribute To Actor Who Passed Away
The sudden death of actor Bill Paxton meant that there wasn’t enough time for an Oscars In Memoriam, but another, better Bill Paxton tribute just happened!
When Bill Paxton died suddenly on Saturday, February 26, after complications that arose due to surgery, the entertainment world was in shock.
Almost immediately, everyone had their own Bill Paxton tribute on hand out of respect for the actor, who was only 61 years old when he died.
But according to Gizmodo, the best-ever Bill Paxton tribute took place thanks to stormchasers out in the Midwest.
These stormchasers, who have been following Bill Paxton’s career since he starred in the 1996 epic Twister (with Helen Hunt), checked in from across Kansas and Oklahoma so that their GPS signals spell out “BP” in Paxton’s honor.
According to the site, Paxton “put them on the map” with his role in Twister, and now, they’re remembering him in the afterlife as well.
The stormchasers coordinated their efforts through their private Facebook page, and checked in using various software programs that “pinged” their location.
But there’s another, more pressing reason why this Bill Paxton tribute was so bittersweet.
"“Just before his death, Paxton was set to reprise his role as Master Sergeant Farell in an upcoming sequel to Edge of Tomorrow. The director of that film, Doug Liman, spoke to the New York Daily News today. He said Paxton was in great spirits recently, “Even facing major surgery, his optimism for the future was infectious.”"
A live tweet from the event showed how all the “dots” came together to form Paxton’s initials.
