On Sunday, February 26th, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will hand out Oscars. And so we made some predictions!

The Oscars are considered the culmination of the movie award season. It can turn an unknown actor into a household name overnight. We are just days away from The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences celebration of the 89th Academy Awards, and everyone wants to know who’s going to win. The team behind La La Land have been pushing hard since their epic Golden Globes sweep. They managed to score 14 Oscar nominations, tying All About Eve and Titanic for the most nominations ever. So the question in everyone’s mind is  La La Land going to win all the Oscars?

Another group people will be watching is for Best Original Song. Lin-Manuel Miranda took his shot at his first Oscar nomination and is only one award from locking down the first ever MacPEGOT. Justin Timberlake is hoping to play spoiler with his radio friendly hit “Can’t Stop The Feeling” for the movie Trolls.

Many producers are looking to the Oscars to see if feelings have thawed towards streaming-video services. It was once unheard of for a movie from any streaming service would ever be recognized with an Academy nomination. This year, Amazon scored six Oscar nominations with Manchester by the Sea and Netflix scored one for Ava DuVernay’s 13th.

After much criticism the last few years for the Academy’s lack of diversity of film and individual awards. Huge strides were made by the Oscars to rectify this glaring problem. This year seven non-white actors were nominated for Oscars, but out of that only one is Asian.

While the Academy continues to improve its diversity issues and acceptance of streaming movies we’ve got the answers on who’s going to win the coveted Oscar awards.
