16. Clea

At first sight, you might think that Clea is little more than a background character. She first appears in the story arc in which Doctor Strange faces Dormammu, an incredibly powerful and evil primordial entity. Before this first encounter, Clea warns Strange against facing Dormammu. For her collusion with Strange, Dormammu imprisons Clea. When Strange defeats the evil and releases Clea, she becomes one of his only allies in the strange and threatening Dark Dimension.

Eventually, Clea and Strange go through the requisite romantic plot. They get married according to the laws of the Dark Dimension, which I bet makes for a way more interesting wedding ceremony than your standard Earth-based ones. Thereafter, the two team up and fight all sorts of mystical evil.

Don’t think Clea is just a sidekick, though. She is a powerful magic practitioner, to the point where she becomes known as the Sorceress Supreme of the Dark Dimension. If you name it, Clea can probably do it. She can levitate objects, control minds, create living beings, throw bolts of energy, and travel amongst dimensions, to name just a few skills. Thanks to her relationship with Doctor Strange, she’s also gained a vast knowledge of magical practice. Furthermore, Clea has developed impressive skills in hand-to-hand combat.

Don’t mess with Clea, is what I’m saying.
