11. Boodikka

Boodikka is an alien member of the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic peacekeeping force granted near-magical abilities by their power rings. Given that her name is a play on ancient British warrior Queen Boudica, it should come as no surprise that Green Lantern Boodikka also loves battle.

Previously, Boodikka belonged to a group of female warriors called the Blood-Sisters of Bellatrix. Said Blood-Sisters both protect their home planet and also pick up mercenary work here and there. Somehow, they’ve never bothered to capitalize on their metal-as-hell name and start a band.

Anyway, three-centuries-old Boodikka is doing just fine as a warrior by the time the Green Lanterns come calling. She eventually joins the Green Lantern Corps. At first, Earth’s Green Lantern, Hal Jordan, is put off by her aggressiveness. However, she soon proves herself to be a highly capable Green Lantern. Though she often butted heads with authority figures throughout her comics storyline, she remained with the Corps.

During the comics runs, Boodikka remains ultimately good, though there is plenty of requisite back and forth about “good” and “evil”. In the animated film Green Lantern: First Light, however, she is radically different. There, she sides with the big baddie, Sinestro, but meets a bad end after a climactic battle. So, if you want more of a role model, stick to the comics.
