11. Cyclops Kisses His New Girlfriend While Standing on His Old Wife’s Grave

Emma Frost has been through a lot of story arcs through the years, though apparently very few of them contain clothing worn by an actual human woman. I mean, if wearing underwear all the time is your thing and you can persuade your coworkers that it’s fine, go for it. I just wonder if she ever wants to wear sweatpants and a t-shirt, you know?

Anyway, this isn’t about Frost’s sartorial choices. It’s more about her seemingly constant travel between “good” and “bad”. Of course, we are talking about the X-Men universe, where allegiances and alliances flip-flop depending on who’s doing the writing. It’s not that big of a deal, at least from the casual reader’s perspective.

What should be a big deal is making out on your dead wife’s grave. Let me explain.

So, the majority of the blame here lies with Cyclops. Even while his wife, Jean Grey, is still alive, he’s macking on Emma Frost. When Jean dies for the third (fourth? fifth?) time, he powers on through and makes it official with Emma. It’s a little weird, given that both Grey and Frost were nigh-on mortal enemies. Don’t worry though, because they kiss romantically… on top of Jean Grey’s grave.
