Best Pop Solo Performance

Now here’s a difficult category. Two of the songs in this category were also nominated for “Song of the Year” (“Hello” and “Love Yourself”) plus, you can never discount Beyoncé. Also, this is technically a category about performance, so Kelly Clarkson’s stunning live performance of “Piece by Piece” on American Idol also makes it a valid option for the win. So who will walk away with the award?

The Nominees

“Hello” — Adele
“Hold Up” — Beyonce
“Love Yourself” — Justin Bieber
“Piece By Piece (Idol Version)” — Kelly Clarkson
“Dangerous Woman” — Ariana Grande

Who Will Win

The Academy seems to be obsessed with Adele’s “Hello” (I mean, aren’t we all?!) and I’m betting it will win many of the categories it’s nominated for as a song because it’s one of the strongest tracks on 25. Could Beyoncé still take this one? Of course, that’s always a possibility. But with the success of “Hello”, Adele will probably win this one and Beyoncé will win other match-ups of the night.

Best Pop Duo/Group Performance

When it comes to the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, there are a few stand-out options in the group. The Chainsmokers and Halsey had one of the most popular songs of the year in “Closer” and The Chainsmokers are nominated for Best New Artist. But Rihanna and Drake’s “Work” and Twenty One Pilots “Stressed Out” are both nominated for Record of the Year. And Lukas Graham’s “7 Years” is nominated in the Best Song category as well. Plus, “Cheap Thrills” is just so catchy! Who will take this one home?

The Nominees

“Closer” — The Chainsmokers Featuring Halsey
“7 Years” — Lukas Graham
“Work” — Rihanna Featuring Drake
“Cheap Thrills” — Sia Featuring Sean Paul
“Stressed Out” — Twenty One Pilots

Who Will Win

People love this year’s favorite new artist The Chainsmokers so their jam with Halsey will probably pick this one up. There’s a chance that “7 Years” could surprise people and grab this one but since The Chainsmokers are also likely to win Best New Artist, we’ll put this one in the win column for them as well. After all, at one point it was an impossible song to escape so maybe it has over-played itself to victory.
