Dragonfly in Amber

Just when you thought you knew what the Outlander book series was all about Diana Gabaldon proves you wrong and changes the entire game. From the very beginning of the book, you know something big happened for Claire to be back in her original timeline. Gabaldon also gave us a new location in Paris, political intrigue, and a highland war we have been expecting. And did we mention time travel? Talk about a head-spinning tale that you can’t help but read over and over again. Again, Gabaldon delivers some of the best lines to our favorite Highland warrior, Jamie. If you weren’t already in love with Jamie, you would be after this book.

"“Lord, ye gave me a rare woman, and God! I loved her well” (840). “You cannot save the world, but you might save the man in front of you, if you work fast enough” (840). “But for the hours of the night, I was helpless; powerless to move as a dragonfly in amber” (328). “But I talk to you as I talk to my own soul,” he said, turning me to face him. He reached up and cupped my cheek, fingers light on my temple. “And, Sassenach,” he whispered, “your face is my heart” (197). “Blood of my blood,” he whispered, “and bone of my bone. You carry me within ye, Claire, and ye canna leave me now, no matter what happens. You are mine, always, if ye will it or no, if ye want me or nay. Mine, and I wilna let ye go” (843). “For I give ye my spirit, ’til our life shall be done” (188). “Social prejudice is a strong force, but no match for simple competence when skill is in urgent demand and short supply” (218). “Oh, Claire, ye do break my heart wi’ loving you” (95). “Healing comes from the healed; not from the physician. That much, Raymond had taught me” (522). “It’s only the essence of a thing that counts. When time strips everything else away, it’s only the hardness of the bone that’s left” (854)."
