Game of Thrones Pens Might Just Be Mightier than the Sword
For those looking for a classy way to express their love of Game of Thrones, these new pens might be an excellent choice.
Game of Thrones really likes to remind you that all men must die. However, it seems to us that all men must also write at one point or another. Alas, we don’t live in a world where we can do absolutely everything digitally. Enter these new pens from Montegrappa for Targaryens, Lannisters, and more alike.
In the accompanying press release, Montegrappa gave details on each of the four pens. For starters, the Stark pen is silver-white with palladium (!) accents. “Winter is Coming” and the direwolf symbol appear on the cap, as does a pattern of “a runic symbol reminiscent of Norse artistry,” alluding to the First Men ancestry shared by the Starks. The Targaryen pen, meanwhile, is red on black. A dragon’s head and the words “Fire and Blood” appear on the cap, and it uses a filigree pattern.
The Lannister pen has red and gold, naturally, with a lion on the cap. Roses are the cap pattern, which seems like an allusion to the embroidery found on some of Cersei Lannister’s earlier season gowns.
Finally, the Baratheon pen is black and gold and uses a fleur-de-lis pattern. Sorry, Baratheons, but now that even Tommen not-quite Baratheon has died, it seems like your pen is more of a legacy nod.
The fountain pens can take both cartridges and converters, and you can pick up one of four nib sizes, from bold to extra fine. (You can also spot the rollerball and ballpoint variations in the above photo.) Naturally, with all these details, they’ll cost a pretty penny. One listing we found from Montegrappa’s Italian store for the Stark fountain pen listed a price of 245 euros. A quick conversion via Google suggests a U.S. dollar price of about $262 based on current exchange rates.

In other words, you might need Lannister-style money to pick one of these pens up, but they are pretty gorgeous.
