Did you miss Super Bowl LI? That’s ok because we got you covered with the best and the worst commercials of Super Bowl 51.

You don’t necessarily have to be a football fan to watch the Super Bowl. It’s a great reason to get together with friends, eat great food and watch some pretty spectacular commercials. With such a captive audience, it makes sense for companies to put their best ads out there. And with a 5 million dollar price tag, companies want to make them not only memorable but also exciting.

Unfortunately, what companies think is funny or remarkable doesn’t  always resonates with the public. As a matter of fact, this year’s batch of commercials were kind of lackluster. Snickers tried to up the ante with a live commercial with Adam Driver from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In the ad, everything goes wrong on purpose, but it just wasn’t that appealing other than it filmed live.

Granted, not every year we should expect iconic Super Bowl ads like the Apple introduces Macintosh, Volkswagen The Force or Budweiser Frogs. This year just seemed to have more “blah” commercial than ever.

What we did see this year is many companies using their Super Bowl ads to comment on what is happening in the country. Businesses usually steer away from controversial issues. (Let’s face it companies are in it to make a profit. Getting people upset has the potential of ruining that.) But this year is different. We got several commercials on immigration, the wage gap, and even the environment. It’s almost they understood this year was unlike any other and now was the right time and platform to affirm where they stand on issues.

Let’s take a look at the best and the worst Super Bowl 51 commercials.
