Where to Watch HBO’s The Young Pope Episodes 7 and 8 Live
Who is Lenny Belardo? Is the demise of the Catholic Church imminent? Has the papacy of Pope Pius XIII failed? These questions will hopefully be answered as we gear up for HBO’s The Young Pope Episodes 7 and 8.
We’ve been so taken on the whirlwind journey that is HBO’s Limited Series The Young Pope. The visually stunning show explores the twisted dichotomy of the world’s youngest pope Pius XIII (masterfully played by Jude Law), and has pulled us in several different directions. Who is this man? Will his papacy destroy the Catholic Church? We’ll hopefully find out more with The Young Pope Episodes 7 and 8, airing Sunday and Monday. Stick around if you want a link to a livestream.

What Happened?
The Cardinals are informed of Lenny’s plans. He intends to cloister himself in the Vatican even more, making the face of Catholicism even more extreme. But Lenny isn’t as rigid as he portrays himself. His parental abandonment issues are always bubbling below the surface, and there’s no telling what’s going to set him off.
His strict guidelines for adding people into the priesthood have resulted in the suicide of a young would-be priest. This should add for a stunning ripple effect throughout the halls of the Vatican.
What’s Next?
Lenny seems like a broken man in the sneak peek for Episode 7. The Vatican suicide may be taking a toll on Pius XIII. Even Sister Mary says he’s distracted and distant. Cardinal Voiello (Silvio Orlando) has Pius XIII sign something (a Vatican order? An agreement to show his face?) and Sister Mary (Diane Keaton) prays for the destruction of the church to stop. This is something we saw Voiello pray for God’s forgiveness from, as all his efforts to oust Pius XIII would destroy the very foundation of Catholicism.
Cardinal Andrew Dussolier’s faith (Scott Shepard) has also been shaken, and we see a quick shot of him leaving the Vatican in civilian clothes. Did Lenny dismiss him or did he leave on his own volition? There’s also a shot of him sitting in the backseat of a car, in what seems to be the throes of an overdose. Could the church be imploding in on itself? HBO has always been good with cutting their sneak peek promos, so they could possibly be throwing us for a loop. We’re sure to find out soon.
