By Buckie Wells
“Kitten Bowl” is a feline catstravaganza presented in association with North Shore Animal League America (the nation’s largest no-kill shelter and animal adoption organization) and Last Hope Animal Rescue and Rehabilitation. Hosted by Beth Stern, TV personality and national spokesperson for North Shore Animal League America, “Kitten Bowl” is a star-studded lineup that includes legendary New York Yankees radio voice John Sterling and award-winning reporter, sports analyst and commentator Mary Carillo as “Kitten Bowl’s” official play-by-play announcer, and Boomer Esiason as the Feline Football League’s (FFL) Commissioner. Name: Coach Tubby
Position / Style: Cunning
Nickname: “Mr. Smarty Cats”
Goal: To scratch out a victory.
Favorite Football Movie: “The Longest Yarn”
Quote: “Does this collar make me look…(?)”
Our first star of the Kitten Bowl is our head coach, Coach Tubby. As you can see, he maintains an excellent sense of humor and will likely do anything he can to lead his team to victory. When he’s not watching The Longest Yarn, he’s studying old tapes, deflating footballs, and helping his star player, Tom Bratty Cat, win the Kitten Bowl. This year, it’s a four-way race between all the All-Star teams, but Coach Tubby hopes he has an advantage because of his sweet mustache!

Position / Style: Tied End
Nickname: “Beast of Hurtin”
Enjoys: Spinning a Good Yarn
Favorite Actor: Kitten Spacey
Quote: “No more Mr. Nice Cat!”
Here’s our first player of the night — Daisy. As you can see she’s one of the premiere players of the leg. She’s the “Beast of Hurtin” and isn’t afraid to show it. Additionally, she spins good yarn, and she’s really excited for the next season of House of Yarns, which stars her favorite actor, Kitten Spacey. When this kitten isn’t tearing up the field, she’s thinking about all the ways adoption helps save kitten lives!
